(2) Before you do the research for this exercise, make a note of your own view concerning the age of the Earth.

1.  A man named Ussher estimated how old the Earth was.  Who was he, and when did he live?

2.  What method did Ussher use to calculate the age of the Earth?

3.  When did the Earth begin to exist, according to Ussher’s calculations?

4.  A contemporary of Ussher published a similar, and earlier estimate.  What was his name?

5.  How old did that person estimate the age of the Earth to be?

6.  To what extent are you inclined to change your own view on the age of the Earth as a result of the above information?
