I am currently working on a book on the computational capacities of computers. I sketch a new analysis of computation, an analysis that makes good sense of the idea of computation beyond the so-called “Turing limit.”

I am also working on articles on the nature of life and how to search for genuinely strange extraterrestrial life without a definition of ‘life’. This work grows out of previous work in which I argued that it is a mistake for scientists to try to define ‘life’.
