SYLLABUS

This course is a critical examination of the history and development of the United States’ system(s) of criminal punishment and rehabilitation. It covers the different ways in which the United States has sought to penalize, correct, and prevent criminal behavior. We will review multiple viewpoints about the pressing concern of what should be done with individuals who violate criminal law.
