Chapter Meetings

The Chapter was chartered May 17, 1956, and the first business meeting of the Chapter was held at the home of Terri McGill.

Meetings the first few years were held at various Boulder restaurants. Do you remember: The Gourmet in the 2600 block on Broadway; Wayne's Cafe at 15th and Pearl; The Lamp Post on Arapahoe (long before Crossroads Mall and the Harvest House); and the Boulderado Hotel.

More recently meetings were held at Flatirons Country Club, the University Club (cost $2.50, and included a complimentary "Sparkle Hour") and University Memorial Center, restaurants in Longmont, Lafayette, and Northglenn.

In the early years business meetings were held the first Thursday of each month and the Program/Dinner Meetings held the third Thursday of each month.

Shirley Ferris was installed as President in May 1956. The following day she attended the Second Annual Meeting of the Colorado Division of NSA, a Saturday/Sunday morning meeting. Accomodations were at the Alamo Hotel in Colorado Springs. A single room was $5.00 and a twin room was $9.00. A registration fee of $7.50 included the banquet and breakfast.

On June 21, 1956 the Treasurer reported the balance on hand as $4.88. A bill was presented to be paid in the amount of $5.10 (creative bookkeeping).

In December 1970, the Christmas Party and regular meeting began with a progressive dinner; cocktails at Terri McGill's home, the main course was served at Marlyce Harris' home, and the dessert and business meeting was at Audie Cupp's home.

Things have changed, the photo albums reveal that smoking was allowed in all meetings.

The Columbine/Evergreen Chapters (later the Denver Chapter) continued to advise and lend support to all the endeavors of the fledgling chapter.
