About Me

My name is Gregory Camilli, and I am a Professor in the School of Education, University of Colorado Boulder ( web address.) I conduct research and evaluation studies in a number of different areas.

In the adjacent links, I provide access to select published and unpublished work in the last two decades. These studies are representative both of my methodological approach and substantive interests. In general, I'm interested in equity issues and also topics at the intersection of psychometrics and educational practice.

Some links are provided to preprints of papers. These are for the purpose of illustration only, and could very well differ from the published version. Please do not cite preprints.

Philosophical Orientation

Good intentions need to be supported by evidence when designing policies, programs, and interventions. Yet research studies also require understanding of and sensitivity to social and policy contexts. As observed by Lee J. Cronbach in Designing Educational and Social Evaluations (p. 112) "Many statements, only a few of them explicit, link formal reasoning to the real world; their plausibility determines the force of the argument." Researchers often need to be persuasive in support of their findings and recommendations, and this requires understanding the diversity and background of those having a stake in the research.
