Professor of Printmaking
University of Colorado at Boulder

As an artist and teacher my primary medium is printmaking, with an emphasis on imaginative landscape. I primarily rely upon an intuitive process in which fragments of reality are abstracted to conform with an inner vision of a particular subject. The prints dated in the1990's up to 1997 on this web site are representative of over 100 images. All derived from a re-interpretation of abstracted information taken from a Lorance Sonar depth finder. This device records underwater structure and prints this information on graph paper in a very abstract digital form. Because I personally do not have experience of what underwater structure really looks like, it was easy to fantasize, imagine and re-invent the abstract images recorded on graph paper. Other earlier works shown on this site, also rely on a similar intuitive approach in their execution, but of course dealing with different subject matter. Work dated 1997 is Monotype work executed in my new print studio, located at 10909 Patterson Court Northglenn, Colorado 80234. Tel 303-450-0128 (Fax 303-4500128).

The print shop is equipped with a large motorized Griffin Litho press and a medium motorized Intaglio press. Outside of my responsibility as a teacher of printmaking and Director of the University of Colorado Printmaking area, I conduct workshops in monotype printing, metal plate lithography and Intaglio. I also do contract printing from time to time. If anyone viewing this site is interested in a schedule of upcoming work shops or contract printing information, please feel free to call or e-mail me.
