Double check your tickets: When does the performance start?
Where is the theatre? What day is your ticket for?
Give yourself enough time to arrive before the scheduled performance time. Quite often, you may not be allowed to enter a performance once it has begun, so don't count on being able to arrive late.
Remember you are attending a live theatre event.
The performers can see and hear you. It is very inconsiderate to them (and fellow audience members) to talk during the performance. Save your comments for the intermission, or after the show.
The theatre is not the place to make-out with your loved one. I know it's dark and the play may put you into an amorous mood - hang onto that thought and commence affectionate physical contact with your date after you leave the theatre.
Most theatres do not allow food and/or drink in the auditorium.
If you have a watch that beeps, chimes, or plays music, disengage this feature before the performance.
Do not eat cellophane wrapped candy or cough drops in the theatre!
Resist taking notes during a live performance. Sit back, relax, and allow yourself to enjoy the evening. Remember your paper does not require a blow-by-blow account of what you witness. I do not want to ruin your theatre experience by turning you into a court reporter. You can take some notes at intermission and after the play is over.
