James Diekmann is a Professor of Civil and Architectural Engineering at the University of Colorado at Boulder.  Professor Diekmann joined the faculty in 1979 and is the senior member of the Construction Engineering Management Program.  In 2000, he was named the first recipient of the K. Stanton Lewis Chair in Construction Engineering and Management.  Professor Diekmann is an active teacher and researcher in the Construction Management field.  His work centers on the application of modeling and technology to the problems of design and construction project management.  He is the author of more than 180 journal articles, conference papers and technical reports.  Professor Diekmann is a member of the National Academy of Construction.

Professor Diekmann has received numerous awards including the ASCE Peurifoy Research Award, the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Center for Public Resources, and he has twice received the ASCE Thomas Fitch Rowland Prize.  He was also awarded the Distinguished Achievement Award and the Clarence Eckel Award by his Department.

Prior to joining the University of Colorado, Diekmann taught at the University of Washington, worked for the Bechtel Corporation, worked for Ebasco Services, and was an active-duty member of the U.S. Army.  He is a consultant to several major corporations and governmental agencies.
