Commissioning Statement

The Online Student Services Committee will determine if the creation of unified web based student services for the campus should be a priority.  It will also develop criteria and processes to determine how to prioritize services; identify opportunities and obstacles associated with developing and deploying a unified set of services; (which might include online admissions, registration, advising, and bill-paying capabilities) and provide a set of recommendations which prioritize what services should first be developed.  The committee will determine what technology will best provide online student services for all students (prospective, enrolled, graduate, and alumni) as well as what departments should be involved in the implementation of this strategic initiative.  Additionally, this committee will identify and recommend the student service department that can best provide the primary leadership for this campus-wide initiative.

  • Bring both student and provider expectations and demands for services in line with technical capabilities and visa versa.
  • Find a process or procedure to direct the development of web-based services that acknowledges and includes:
  • Multiple owners of data and systems
  • Possible obligations to other campuses
  • Roles of committees and governance groups whose decisions affect the provision of student services
  • User requirements
  • Other criteria for prioritization

Technology

Find the appropriate technology that will provide the following:

  • Service reliability
  • Appropriate security
  • Accessibility
  • Personalization/tailored services
  • Access to pertinent services based on CU affiliation
  • Scalable solutions
  • Ease of adding transactions
  • Ability to separate presentation and content from infrastructure
