IAFS 4500 Debate Explanation

Here is the explanation/format for the two In-class debates:

At least four persons from each team will speak (The Prof will pick one team member at random to speak)

1. Timing

a. Opening statement: each team has 2-5 minutes

b. Argument: 8-10 minutes

c. Rebuttal: 5-7 minutes

d. Closing statement: 2-5 minutes

2. The team that wins the coin toss can decide it they want to go first or
last. The order goes as follows:

Team 1 Opening
Team 2 Opening
Team 1 Argrument
2 minute break
Team 2 Rebuttal
Team 2 Argument
2 minute break
Team 1 Rebuttal
1 minute break
Team 1 Closing
Team 2 Closing

3. The two teams not participating plus myself are the judges. I will
keep time and give a one minute to go signal and then cut you off if they
reach to time limit.
