Welcome!
Mechanical Engineering draws from the disciplines of mechanics, thermodynamics, fluids and energy in order to analyze, design, manufacture and optimize a wide range of systems. One of the traditional frontiers of research in Mechanical Engineering has been the development of automotive systems. From pioneering work in the fields of hydrocarbon combustion and auto emissions, air quality has become one of the core disciplines in Mechanical Engineering departments across the nation.
Research in Air Quality at the Mechanical Engineering Department at CU Boulder has grown substantially in recent years. Following the addition of several new faculty members in this area, the department now offers a PhD track in Air Quality. The purpose of the Collaborative for Air Quality Research is to unify the presentation, organization and activities within this program, while providing a cohesive overview to current and prospective students.
