Introduction
I joined the faculty in the ME department at CU Boulder in January 2009.
Prior to this I was a Postdoctoral Fellow in Sustainable Development at the Earth Institute of Columbia University in New York City. While there, I worked at NASA GISS with Drew Shindell. NASA GISS is a highly esteemed center for climate research. It is also humorously located directly above a famous restaurant.
I earned my PhD in Chemical Engineering at Caltech under the guidance of Prof. J. H. Seinfeld, where I studied aerosols, atmospheric chemistry and inverse modeling.
My initial interest in atmospheric science came from an internship that I did one summer while an undergraduate at the University of Washington in Seattle -- I worked with Drs. Patricia Quinn and Tim Bates and their group at NOAA PMEL. This was a brief and somewhat random hiatus from my aspiring career in theoretical organic chemistry; little did I realize it would be a life changer.
Orignally I'm from northeastern WA state, so despite much time spent in Seattle, LA and NYC, it is not so foreign to be back in a rural, dry, mountain setting.
