Kenneth A. Kozar Welcomes You

A Few Bytes About Me

Kenneth Anthony Kozar lives in the foothills of the Colorado rockies near Lyons, Colorado. Pine trees, rock outcrops, and wild flowers (in season) color the landscape. Daily visitors to the home of Ken and Nancy include deer, wild turkeys, and many varieties of birds. Less frequent visitors include skunks, coyotes, fox, eagles, and humans. Ken is originally from Ely, Minnesota, a city that claims to be "where the wilderness begins." While spending his youth in Ely, Ken thought it was where civilization ended. Nancy is an accomplished water color artist whose work appears in several galleries.

Work

Ken has worked at a fishing camp in Canada's Northwest Territories as a guide and camp manager. He also has worked as an over-the-road truck driver and has fond memories of running through the gears of a large Kenworth. While a student in Minnesota, he was the lead singer and drummer for a group called "The Torments." Currently, he is a Professor of Information Systems at the University of Colorado in Boulder. He has published in information systems (IS) journals such as the MIS Quarterly, Journal of Management Information Systems, Information and Management, and CIO Journal. For more details see Ken's resume. He served two terms as an associate editor of the MIS Quarterly and was former chairperson of the Society for Information Management's (SIM) International Paper Award Competition. His focus is linking the academic world with real life practice. For more information on his research interests, see areas of research.

Ken holds a Ph.D. in information systems from the University of Minnesota obtained in 1972. Yes, there were IS programs at that time. He has worked and consulted in the IS field and with the changes in our field feels he has 2 years experience about seventeen times.

Play

Ken is an avid outdoorsman, fisherman, and hunter. With his bow and arrow he has shot deer, antelope, and a 5 points-on-a-side bull elk. A life-long objective is to run at least five miles in every state. He has Alaska remaining on his list. He has run a dozen marathons and at one time in his life was a marathon canoe paddler. His latest passion is flyfishing and flytying. Check out a flyfisher's index and a virtual flyshop and Ken's favorite fly tying site. A recent find with a wealth of material is Fly Fish America Magazine Online. For some great fishing flies and framed flies, check out Roth Angling's Site.
