Big Bend National Park Page


The park received sufficient moisture this last Fall and Winter to give the best bloom of flowers in over a decade.
 
   The picture to the left is a photo of a field of Fendlers Bladderpod, a mustard, in the area of the Park headquarters at Panther Junction of Big Bend National Park in Texas.. 

   The picture to the right is a shows Desert Marigolds near Rio Grande Village with the Sierra Del Carmen Mountains of Mexico in the background.

On the left is a patch of Texas lupine along the roadside.  On the left is a field of lupine and bi-colored mustards interspersed anpmg the Lechuguilla.

A Warnock's cactus in bloom near the Old Ore Terminal.  The cactus blooms in that area were so thick that it was difficult to walk without stepping on them.
