Course Description
Fall 2009 EDUC 2020-002 STEP 1 Informal. Thursday 12:30pm - 1:45 pm in EDUC 143. Invites science and mathematics students to explore teaching as a career by providing first-hand experiences teaching science/math lessons in local elementary classrooms. Introduces theory and practice necessary to design and deliver excellent instruction. Master teachers provide ongoing support and feedback. Meets weekly on CU campus (1.25 hours/week) and involves additional visits to local elementary school. Step 1 Informal is almost identical to EDUC 2020-001 STEP 1, except with an emphasis on informal environments. Field placements occur after school.
Field Placement Schedule
As part of the course, students will be required to participate in 5 scheduled field experiences. Students will pick one site for the semester. Each site meets once a week for one hour at two different elementary schools in Longmont. The current schedule is:
Mondays 2:45-3:45 Spangler Elementary 4th Grade
Tuesdays 2:45-3:45 Spangler Elementary 5th Grade
Thursdays 3:45-4:45 Rocky Mountain Elementary 4th Grade
Thursdays 3:45-4:45 Rocky Mountain Elementary 5th Grade
