Personal

When I travel abroad, I post on a blog that keeps an account of my travels.

Some of my favorite pictures...

A guilty pleasure of mine is Indonesian pop music. The production quality is as high as American or British pop/rock, and there are dozens of truly excellent groups. Among others: Sheila on 7 and Slank are the sentimental heroes, Maliq n d'Essentials are my favorite of many jazz-soul outfits, Iwan Fals articulates political protest better than most, and Peterpan is the guiltiest pleasure of all. It's worth digging around the incredibly diverse Indonesian punk scene as well. By comparison, Malaysian pop music is tame, schmaltzy, and uninspiring. For example, Siti Nurhaliza is technically flawless, but her music is just not interesting. I would be happy to be proven wrong.

My first publication was on the Analytic and Algebraic Topology of Locally Euclidean Metrizations of Infinitely Differentiable Riemannian Manifolds.
