Ensemble Placement Audition Repertoire
for Fall, 2007


All music students enrolled in lessons are required to participate in University large ensembles.  Each student participating in ensembles will be required to play a placement audition at the beginning of the semester.    The orchestral excerpts below are required for consideration for placement in the top ensembles.
Fall 2007:

  • Beethoven Symphony No. 3, mvmt. III. Trio. Horn 2.
  • Brahms Piano Concerto No. 1, mvmt. I. Coda Solo. Horn 1.
  • Mahler Symphony No. 3, mvmt. I. Recap. Horn 4.
  • Mendelssohn Symphony No. 3 "Scottish", mvmt. II.  4 bars before F to 1 before G.  Horn 3.
  • Shostakovich Symphony No. 5, mvmt. I. Low Tutti. Horn 1.
  • Strauss, Richard Ein Heldenleben, opening. Horn 1.
