| April-June | Conduct Spring planning review to establish presidential policy for the upcoming budget |
| July-August | OMB provides agencies with policy guidance for the upcoming budget |
| September 1 | Agencies subject to executive branch review submit initial budget request materials |
| September-January | OMB & president review agency budget requests and prepare the budget documents |
| October 15 | Independent agencies not subject to executive branch review submit initial budget request materials |
| November-December | Legislative branch and the judiciary submit initial budget request materials |
| December | Cabinet officers' and agency appeals to the president |
| 1st Monday in February | President's budget submitted to Congress |
| January- February | OMB sends allowance letters to agencies |
| July 15 | President submits mid-session updates to the budget estimates |
