Sir Julian Corbett
1854-1922

Of the three authors here, Mr. Corbett is the most obscure. He wrote the Official History of the Royal Navy in World War One, among other things. I came across him by chance, and found that he had been friends with Rudyard Kipling. Both men passed through Denver, Colorado, as they toured the western United States. Mr. Corbett visited in 1879-80.

Rudyard Kipling
1865-1936

Mr. Kipling needs no introduction. It is interesting to note, that his son, was a sub-altern in the Irish Guards, and was killed in in France in 1915.

Zane Grey
1872-1939

The well known writer of western fiction, Mr. Grey also pioneered the sport of big game fishing.
