Each year the Soap Factory in Minneapolis presents an exhibition featuring interpretations of the ubiquitous ice shanty, a temporary fishing hut common throughout the upper Midwest. Rather than build a reinterpretation of an ice shanty, I opted to make a life-size blueprint of an 8ft by 8ft structure complete with specifications for the location of the door and the ice hole.
