If it hadn't been for the development of the personal computer, I would never have made a single typeface. Despite a persistent interest in letterforms, the conventional typographical design process was far too demanding for me. The process is still a fairly tedious one, but the mechanical aspects of character generation are much more forgiving in the digital than those of the analog era. Most of these typefaces have been designed for use in another project such as a book or painting or installation. Only recently have I designed a font with no specific purpose in mind, that is, for it's own sake.
