Provided overall programmatic leadership for four distinct academic credit
programs: Independent Studies, Carolina Courses Online, Off-Campus Credit, and
Continuing Studies Evening College. This included developing long range
strategic plans, creating and implementing marketing strategies, creating and
monitoring budgets, scheduling courses, working with departments and faculty to
develop and offer new courses. Supervised staff of two.
Independent Studies responsibilities included directing state-wide consortium
offering over 112 correspondence study courses through central administration
body. Served as University liaison to state-wide higher
education administration regarding the implementation of state funding for
off-campus and distance education instruction. Member
of University Steering Committee for Distance Education.

Division of Continuing Education: 1990 to 1997:
Assistant Director for Credit Programs: 1994-1997
Developed new programs and administered existing programs in all credit areas.
This included SURGE, telecourses, correspondence
study, off-campus classroom instruction and on-campus evening classroom
instruction. Coordinated with academic departments and
colleges on development and approval of all credit programs. Played lead role in the majority of the Division’s
programmatic transitions resulting from policy and financial changes. Supervised staff of six. Was responsible
for budgets and financial control of these five program areas. Assisted
October 1994 -Assumed leadership of SURGE program -
Graduate distance education
May 1994 -Assumed leadership of Telecourse and
Correspondence Study programs.
Sept 1992 -Given title of Assistant Director and assumed overall
operational responsibility
for all credit programs including all distance education areas.
July 1992 -Assumed responsibility for off-campus credit program.
Credit Coordinator: October 1990
Responsible for program development for on and off campus courses. Scheduled all on-campus courses with University departments each
semester. Negotiated tuition and fee disbursements
with instructors and departments. Managed five person
staff responsible for processing student, course, and instructor information
for credit courses involving live classroom instruction. Directed implementation of computerization of course and student
information. Coordinated target marketing needs for specific courses.

16 part-time employees. Responsible for public
relations, financial control, fund raising, alumni and university relations,
board development and support. Administered leadership
development program for 120 students involving $123,000 in scholarships funds
annually. Created a comprehensive communication plan
reaching various constituencies.
