Application process FAQ

Application Form (.pdf)

Q: When I apply to the graduate Mathematics program at CU, should I apply to the Math Department AND the graduate school, or is there only one form?

A: You apply by using the standard graduate school application form. You send this form to the graduate program assistant in the Mathematics Department, at

University of Colorado at Boulder
Department of Mathematics
Graduate Program Assistant
Mathematics 260
395 UCB
Boulder, CO 80309-0395

Q: Should I apply for student loans? Who do I contact for an application?

A: You may consider applying for student loans. The payroll system at CU is set up so that you do not receive your first TA paycheck until the last business day in September (not August!), so you may want to take out a loan to cover your September needs.

To apply for student loans, visit the CU Office of Student Financial Aid.

Q: I have sent my graduate school application and fees to the Math Department. When should I expect a decision?

A: A decision will be made in mid March, and you should expect to receive notification by mail sometime in late March.

Q: I have applied and been accepted! Now what?

A: You need to inform the Math department that you wish to accept the teaching assistantship. After that, you might want to check out our FAQ for first-year graduate students.
