Criticism and Coaching

A coachable person is someone who seeks and uses criticism
to improve the quality of a creative work.

. . . .

When receiving criticism, imagine that you are
a gigantic ear without emotions.

. . . .

Instead of fearing and avoiding criticism,
embrace it like you would a good friend.
Then, like a good friend, it will help
you achieve your creative goals.

. . . .

A coachable person will get more
help than someone who resists coaching and
will learn more, change more, and become
more effective and successful.

. . . .

Good coaching arises from the desire to enhance
the effectiveness of others in their work,
their relationships, and their lives.
It is based on genuine caring.

. . . .

A principle to follow while you are coaching:
The person coached must be, at a minimum, the same
ego size he or she was before you started coaching.
Bigger, if possible.

. . . .

The person you will coach did not make
the mistakes to annoy you. They were made because
of a lack of knowledge, understanding, ability, or awareness.

. . . .

Good coaches live for one thing.
To witness the day when those they coached surpass them.
