Life Practice
"Problem not that big!"

Many people suffer from making their problems bigger than they actually are. Why they do this seems a bit irrational, since they are going to add a lot of stress to their lives by making their problems bigger and heavier to carry. Some people might inflate the size of their problems to add drama to their lives while others might want to feel like martyrs. When we find ourselves in a situation where the size of a problem seems huge, we can use the practice, "Problem not that big!" Saying these words to ourselves will help us step back from the problem and get a longer time perspective. How big will this problem be tomorrow, in a week, a month, a year, a lifetime? Asking this question, how many of our big problems shrink down to a smaller size? By seeing how small a problem really is, it will be easier to accept and resolve. With smaller problems to handle and less stress, we will be happier and our lives will work better.
