Life Practice
"Don't take it personally!"

Getting upset by other people's words or treatment is quite common. We can ruin a perfectly good day by fuming about it. We may be angry or hurt, because we've taken it to heart. To stop this downward spiral, we can use the practice "Don't take it personally!" This practice will acknowledge what was said and done without beating ourselves up over it. It might be our problem, so we do need to think about it, but it might be the other person's problem. "Don't take it personally!" wakes us up so we can clearly evaluate the situation and make a conscious choice about it. By reducing the number of times we take things personally, we will reduce the number of times that we have to suffer. This change will lead to more contentment and happiness.
