The Ten Commitments For Increasing Happiness

I
Quit beating yourself up with negative thoughts and stories.
Make up positive ones.

II
Quit envying others.
Appreciate what you have.

III
Quit working so hard to prove yourself.
Accept and like yourself as you are.

IV
Quit being stupid by resisting what you can't change.
Be smart and accept it.

V
Quit getting lost in self-pity.
Do something for others who have bigger problems than you.

VI
Quit treating yourself and others badly.
Treat yourself and others well.

VII
Quit whining about being unhappy.
To be happy, create a positive attitude.

VIII
Quit making your problems so big.
Notice how small they really are.

IX
Quit being so one-sided.
Create more balance within yourself and your life.

X
Quit thinking your exaggerated fears are true.
Shrink them down to fit in the palm of your hand.

Keep these commitments and you'll be surprised by how quickly your happiness grows. To insure progress, make a copy of the commitments and put them up on your frig or a mirrow so you can be reminded to practice every day.

"The Ten Commitments" are from my book Why Am I So DAMN Unhappy? It covers each of the commitments as chapters, with Dr. Bob, the Happiness Coach helping others understand what makes them unhappy and then shows them how to get out of it.
